READING BY YLVA AND HILDE ØSTBY

MODERATION: RIKARDE RIEDESEL

It has always been a mystery that humans are able to recall in memory. One of the leading experts in memory research tells stories of remembering and forgetting and explains how the memory process works and shapes our identity.

Neuropsychiatrist Ylva Østby and her sister, author Hilde Østby, research the phenomenon of memories and remembrance: They give an overview of the history of science and tell stories of people who have forgotten everything, but also of those who cannot forget anything. As an experiment, they sent ten divers to the bottom of the Oslo Fjord to find out how the mechanisms of the memory process work.

The mixture of reportage and interesting facts turn out to be very exciting and entertaining as Ylva and Hilde Østby present the recent findings of memory research in their book and show how memories guide our lives, how they can be influenced and why they are fundamental for our visions of the future.

It promises to be an informative and entertaining evening.
