Arve Henriksen is one of the most innovative and creative artists in a golden generation of Norwegian jazz musicians. He has played with artists such as David Sylvain, Jon Balke, Trygve Seim, Imogen Heap, Nils Petter Molvaer or Motorpsycho and is the founder of the legendary avant-garde band Supersilent. “Towards Language” is his ninth solo album. As on previous ones, especially “Cartography” released by ECM, his music features his typical ‘vocal’ trumpet sound. A major influence is the Japanese shakuhachi flute. Henriksen has managed to translate the warm and minimalist sound of the flute onto trumpet. He is accompanied at Mousonturm by his longstanding partners, sound artists Jan Bang and Erik Honoré, as well as the exceptional guitarist Eivind Aarset.
