The exhibition is initiated by the Norwegian artist Crispin Gurholt and the Norwegian curator Helga-Marie Nordby. The project is supported by NORLA and Fritt Ord and also include a publication to be launched during Frankfurter Buchmesse.

Both the exhibition and the publication will reflect on various forms of captivity and deprivation of liberty, but also the question: What does it really mean to be free? Editors of the publication Freigänger / Out Laws are Ruby Paloma and Nicolas Siepen

The former women's prison, which was built in 1906 and was in operation until 2007, is worthy of protection today. The actual zone of the building is intact with cells over three floors. Here, the artists will have their own cell with specially produced projects including visual art, sculpture, installations, video, sound and performance. The exhibition will take place over a weekend from 28 - 30 June 2019 and will be opened by the Norwegian ambassador in Berlin on Friday, June 28 at. 19:00.
