Perspektivet Museum is a cultural history museum that has specially focused on contemporary documentation and dissemination. Photography exhibitions within the documentary genre is a key part of the business. We are located in a beautiful, old trading house, which was Sara Fabricius aka Cora Sandel's home in her youth. Cora Sandel is canonized as one of Norway's 10 best writers.

Cora Sandel is a pseudonym for Sara Fabricius, who was born into a bourgeois family in Kristiania (Oslo) in 1880. She moved with her family to Tromsø when she was 13 years old. The small Arctic town north of the Arctic Circle later became the setting for several of her stories. In 1906, she travelled to Paris to develop as a painter, and remained mainly in France for 15 years. She did not become a painter, but had her breakthrough as a writer after moving to Sweden in 1921. Sara Fabricius died in Uppsala in 1974, aged 94. By then she had published 5 novels and 6 short story collections.

Many of Cora Sandel’s titles have been translated to German. 2019 her novel Kranes konditori, Café Krane is published by Urachhaus, translated by Birgitta Kircherer.

Perspektivet Museum is located in Tromsø, which is far north in Norway. The nearest airport is Langnes Airport. The museum can be visited every day except Monday. On weekends we are open from 11.00-17.00, on weekdays from 10.00-1600. We have a small museum shop where you can buy Cora Sandel's books, as well as a small cafe.
